Guides
The useful setup is not a perfect directory. It is one real job, one invited field user, one assignment, and one completed time entry or field update.
Owner quick start
Choose Create Your Company, confirm your account, then enter the company name, industry, team size, and timezone. The company starts blank and private.
Open People, create the employee record, choose the operational role, and save a real email address. A record without a login can still be scheduled, but cannot sign in.
From the employee profile, send an invitation and select Field access. The employee accepts from the emailed link and creates their own password.
Open Jobs → New Packet. Add the customer, packet name, address, scope, dates, and only the files the crew needs.
Open Schedule → Add Assignment. Choose the job, employee, start, and end. The field user now sees the same job information.
Have the employee open the job, clock in, add a note/photo/request if needed, and clock out. Confirm the result in Time, Jobs, and Reports.
Office guide
Review who is clocked in, today’s active jobs, recorded hours, and recent activity. Open the source screen when something needs attention.
Update the job address, scope, status, dates, and notes in the packet instead of correcting separate texts or spreadsheets.
Use Dispatch for today’s view and Schedule for future assignments. Preview a field board when checking what an employee can see.
Review Requests, site logs, photos, receipts, materials, and time. Update the job packet so the next person sees the decision.
Field guide
Use Jobs or Schedule. Check the address, time, scope, notes, contact, materials, and approved files before starting.
Open Time and follow the next available action: Clock In, Lunch Start, Lunch End, or Clock Out. Select the correct job at clock-in.
Open the job packet or Documents to add a progress photo, problem photo, receipt, or note to the correct job.
Use Requests for material needs, problems, punch items, change questions, safety issues, or customer questions. Do not bury a blocker in a general note.
Time and approval
Select the job, clock in, use lunch actions, and clock out. Team can separate production, travel, shop, office, and material-run time.
Check the visible totals first. If something is wrong, tell the office what needs correction before approval.
On Team, open Payroll, choose the date range, review missing punches and unusual entries, and mark the review complete.
Only the owner gives final approval. Download the CSV and verify totals before importing it elsewhere. CMD records time; it does not calculate taxes or guarantee payroll compliance.
Location
Live location is a Team feature. The employer must have a lawful workplace policy and must explain the purpose before asking an employee to enable it.
Location remains unavailable on Free. Enabling the plan does not itself grant device permission.
The employee signs in on their own device, reads the purpose and retention notice, and chooses whether to allow location.
The client requests location only during an open shift, not during lunch, and stops at clock-out. Device permission can also be revoked in browser or phone settings.
Authorized office users use the latest position for dispatch context. Do not use CMD location in a way that violates law, an employment agreement, or the published purpose.
Server-side shift validation and automatic retention deletion must pass release acceptance before paid location is activated for a company.
Materials, files, and reports
Create the list from Materials, attach it to the job, add quantities and notes, then check items as they are loaded or used.
Upload from Documents or the job packet, choose the correct job and visibility, and use clear names. Individual uploads are limited to 25 MB.
Choose a date range, review hours and job totals, and compare them with the source records before using an export for a business decision.
Files use company-scoped private storage and temporary signed access. Use Restricted visibility for content that ordinary company members should not see.
Billing and data
An active company membership counts once. Inactive employees and employee records without a login do not count. Deactivate access instead of deleting history.
Open Billing in the app or use the Team request on the Pricing page. During paid beta, an owner receives the exact amount, period, renewal, and terms before accepting a charge.
Cancellation takes effect at period end. Paid actions lock after downgrade; records remain readable/exportable, with 30 days to reduce usage to Free limits.
Contact support from the account email to request a company export or deletion. Identity and owner authority are verified before a destructive account action.
See Pricing, the Billing Policy, and the Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
Confirm the account is attached to the correct employee and active membership. Employee and field-lead roles use the Field view; an owner/admin must grant an Office-capable role or hybrid access.
Confirm the employee login is linked, the job has an assignment or schedule entry for that employee, and the user is in the Field view.
Confirm Team is active, the employee granted device permission and CMD consent, the shift is open, lunch is not active, and the browser has a working secure connection.
Check that the file is under 25 MB, uses a supported type, the account has access to the company and job, and the plan still has storage available.
Use Refresh on the relevant screen, verify the selected company, and check connectivity. Do not create a duplicate until you confirm the original did not save.
Email hello@retehost.com from the account email with the company name, screen, time, and what you expected. Do not email passwords or full payment-card data.
